28 Jun Xbox Game Pass Just Got Even Better
Microsoft’s game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, continues to expand—this time with a nostalgic twist. In the second half of May, the company introduced a batch of new titles, but the highlight is the launch of Retro Classics, a new program bringing dozens of vintage games to subscribers at no extra cost.

Retro Classics is a partnership between Xbox and UK-based Antstream Arcade, offering a collection of over 50 classic Activision titles from the 1980s and 1990s. Games like Commando, Grand Prix, and Pitfall! are part of this initial lineup. According to Microsoft, the initiative is a step forward in game preservation and backward compatibility, enabling players to revisit timeless games on modern devices.

These retro games have been restored with enhancements such as new challenge modes, global leaderboards, and save-anytime functionality—features aimed at enriching the experience for today’s gamers.

But this is just the beginning. Microsoft plans to expand Retro Classics to include over 100 titles from Activision and Blizzard in the coming months.

Beyond the retro update, Microsoft also announced improvements for PC gamers. A new feature called Microsoft Edge Game Assist aims to offer in-browser gaming tools like strategy guides, playlists, and platform integration with Discord, Spotify, and Twitch. Additionally, the Xbox Game Bar has received a revamped settings menu for easier adjustments during gameplay.

Elsewhere, updates were made to the Stream Your Own Game and Xbox Play Anywhere programs. The former added new compatible titles including Arma Reforger and Deliver At All Cost, while the latter expanded in April with games like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Remastered.

With initiatives like Retro Classics and improved tools for PC players, Microsoft continues to evolve Xbox Game Pass into one of the most robust and versatile platforms in modern gaming.
