27 Jul Video Game Museums in Spain
Spain is home to several museums dedicated to video games, combining historical preservation, interactive experiences, and cultural outreach. Four permanent centers stand out:

Arcade Vintage (Ibi, Alicante) is the country’s first major video game museum, with over 300 pieces including arcades, pinballs, and retro consoles. Located in the historic Rico Toy Factory, it offers an immersive experience that recreates the original conditions of gameplay from past decades.

MUVI (Cangas, Pontevedra), run by the MUVI Foundation, holds over 2,000 pieces spanning 50 years of history. Its broad approach covers everything from early microcomputers to modern cloud gaming tech, with exhibitions designed for both gamers and general audiences.

OXO Málaga and Madrid take a more contemporary approach, with interactive spaces that feature virtual reality and rotating exhibits like “70 Years of Video Games” and “30 Years of PlayStation.” Highlights include the Magnavox Odyssey and original PONG and Space Invaders machines.

Soon to open is the Museo del Recreativo in Jaén, focused on the golden age of Spanish arcades. And for those unable to visit in person, the Online Video Game Museum offers a way to explore gaming history from home.

Together, these spaces celebrate the cultural, artistic, and technological legacy of video games in Spain.
