06 Sep The ZX Spectrum is Back
Retro gaming enthusiasts have reason to celebrate, thanks to the efforts of Retro Games LTD and PLAION. They are set to launch a modern recreation of the iconic ZX Spectrum from 1982, featuring an identical design to the original.
The original machine has become an icon of home computing and video games, symbolising the technological revolution of the 1980s. This historic status inspired Retro Games Ltd to create a faithful replica that includes modern quality-of-life features. In addition to the 48 pre-installed games, the Spectrum includes a 720p HD output via HDMI for viewing on modern televisions, four USB ports for gamepads and joysticks, and an exact replica of the famous “rubber” keyboard with fully functional keys as they were in 1982. The 48 pre-installed games feature some of the most fun, quirky, and highly-rated titles from the machine’s history, including:
Manic Miner, The Hobbit, Target: Renegade, Match Day II, Saboteur, The Great Escape, Head Over Heels, Alien Girl, Phantis, and Army Moves.

All pre-installed games are officially licensed and can be played using only the keys, just as they were originally released.
– Emulates all ZX Spectrum models from 16k to 128k.
– Detailed control assignment instructions for all games are accessible from the themed user interface.
– The keys feature a series of functions highlighted by words in different colours, providing both a visually interesting and practical design element.
– Compatible with a wide range of new and old gamepads/joysticks, both proprietary and third-party.
It will be released across Europe on 22nd November 2024, with a recommended retail price of €99.99.
