The Shift in Silent Hill f

The Shift in Silent Hill f

The saga, originally created by Konami’s Team Silent, has undoubtedly risen from its ashes and is experiencing a new golden age. With the remake of its second numbered installment, another remake of the first game on the way, and the title in question, fans have sky-high expectations. Silent Hill f will be somewhat different, but it will retain the essence familiar to longtime players of the franchise.

Recently, in the new gameplay shown during Gamescom, many fans expressed concern and frustration over the large amount of action and combat sequences on display. In response, the developers spoke out to dispel any doubts.

“We want to offer longtime fans something like: ‘Ah, this is what I came for, a rich Silent Hill experience.’ But also something for new fans, or those who want to try something different. We’re trying to maintain the classic Silent Hill atmosphere and style, while slightly changing the gameplay.

We don’t want everything to be the same,” said Al-Yang, the project director, in an interview with Elie Gould from PC Gamer. “Keep in mind, there’s a lot of Silent Hill in development right now,” Yang adds. “We just released the Silent Hill 2 remake, which was mainly for classic fans. As already announced, there will be a remake of Silent Hill 1, then Silent Hill f, and later Townfall.”

Meanwhile, one of the game’s producers, Motoi Okamoto, emphasized the importance of giving each upcoming project its own identity. With so many entries in development, they want each to feel distinct to avoid overwhelming players. Producing Silent Hill games with slightly different atmospheres is therefore a deliberate decision by Konami.

“Future titles will likely have their own essence, depending on who we work with. So rather than being too resistant to new experiences in Silent Hill games, it seems something players should accept, if only to enjoy fresh and exciting interpretations of one of the best horror series to date.

Silent Hill is a series where we’ve collaborated with many different teams. For the remake, we partnered with Bloober Team, and now Silent Hill f is being developed by NeoBards, a studio known for its combat.”
