Review of Eyes of Wakanda: Marvel’s Best Anthology Series

Eyes of Wakanda is the new animated miniseries in the MCU that explores the mythology of Black Panther. It features four stories connected by the Hatut Zeraze, a secret Wakandan unit tasked with recovering stolen vibranium artifacts. Each episode takes place in a different era, showcasing Wakanda’s hidden influence throughout world history.

The series stands out for its diverse and powerful voice cast, including talents like Winnie Harlow and Cress Williams, who bring charismatic and complex characters to life.

Unlike What If…?, it avoids excessive fan service, delivering a solid, self-contained story with hand-painted animation that enhances the visual experience.

Eyes of Wakanda also critiques the disposability of its soldiers, who live in the shadows without recognition, reflecting tensions between tradition and modernity. However, it falls short in showing Wakanda’s historical evolution, which remains unchanged across the ages.

Although the third episode is the weakest and some narrative elements may unsettle fans, the series is an exciting offering that expands the MCU’s mythology and satisfies with just four episodes.
