Nissan Formula E Stars in a New Retro-Style Video Game

The Nissan Formula E Team has officially entered the gaming world with the launch of its first video game: Nismo Electric Racer Tokyo, a nostalgic arcade gem inspired by the 1990s.

Developed in collaboration with Japanese illustrator Kentaro Yoshida, the game pays tribute to Japanese gaming culture, featuring 8-bit aesthetics, wild urban circuits, and details that highlight national pride—from Mount Fuji to blooming cherry blossoms.

Available on the official website of the Japanese racing team, the game puts fans behind the wheel of a stylized Nissan Formula E car, racing through the streets of Tokyo at 322 km/h.

Playable on both PC and mobile devices, the game is accompanied by a retro-themed commercial that blends in-game footage with real-life racing clips. Team drivers Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato are already warming up their thumbs to set high scores before hitting the track for real.

“Racing at home is always something special,” says Team Principal Tommaso Volpe. “We wanted to create something that celebrates our roots and the spirit of Japan. With this game, we’ve captured not only the energy we bring to the track, but also the playful, nostalgic side that’s a big part of our culture,” he adds.

Speed, pixelated nostalgia, and Japanese pride—Nissan has wrapped it all into one and delivered it straight to the hearts of racing and gaming fans alike.
