Nintendo Switch 2 Launches with a Packed Lineup and New Features

The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the original Switch, is set to launch globally on June 5, 2025, priced at €469.99. A bundle including a digital copy of Mario Kart World will also be available for €509.99. Pre-orders open April 8 through the My Nintendo Store and select retailers.

Nintendo’s new console aims to compete with the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and even the Steam Deck, offering a unique hybrid system with new technical upgrades.

It will launch with a robust lineup of titles, including:

  • Mario Kart World
  • Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour
  • Street Fighter 6
  • Split Fiction
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Hitman World Assassination: Signature Edition
  • Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster
  • Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut
  • Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics
  • Deltarune: Chapters 1–4
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization VII
  • Survival Kids
  • Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
  • Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S
  • Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition
  • Fast Fusion
  • Fortnite
  • Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer

While Nintendo confirms backward compatibility, it does not guarantee full support for the entire Switch library. However, Switch game cartridges and digital content linked to a user’s Nintendo Account will work with the new system.

Switch 2 will retain the hybrid design of the original console, allowing users to play at home or on the go. The screen has been upgraded to a 7.9-inch 1920×1080 display, now with HDR10 and VRR support up to 120Hz in handheld mode. A new voice chat feature has been added, including a noise-canceling microphone.

The Joy-Con controllers have also been redesigned with a magnetic attachment system and a new “C” button for voice chat access.

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will continue to enjoy existing benefits, with new features like voice chat, screen sharing, and game sharing now added to the service.
