The big news this year is that Activision’s game is not only available in physical and digital stores, but it is also being released on Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service. The fact that it is no longer necessary to buy the game to enjoy it could be a paradigm shift for the most successful entertainment franchise of the last two decades.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is being released in two versions, a “Standard Edition” (79.99 euros) that includes the base game, and another called “Archive Edition” (109.99 euros) that adds a battle pass and other digital add-ons. However, all the expectation is to see how the vast community of players that this title has around the world will receive the fact that it can also be enjoyed with an active subscription to Game Pass, a service with a monthly cost ranging from 11.99 to 17.99 euros.

After Microsoft acquired video game publisher Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion (€65.104 billion) last year, there was talk about whether the American giant would decide to add Call of Duty to its subscription service. Finally, last May it was announced that the game would be available on Game Pass from day one, a decision that could be a major boost for this service.

The twenty-first installment in the Call of Duty series has been co-developed by American studios Raven Software, who have been in charge of the single-player campaign mode, and by Treyarch, who have been responsible for the multiplayer aspect and the popular zombie cooperative mode.

The story mode of Black Ops 6 sets the action in 1991, in the middle of the Gulf War, and follows the steps of agents Troy Marshall and Frank Woods, who must assemble a team to take down the clandestine group Pantheon, who threaten the United States. As always, a campaign as spectacular as it is full of patriotic overtones is expected.

One of the main new features in terms of gameplay is the incorporation of the so-called omnidirectional movement, a feature that gives players greater versatility and dynamism when moving around the stage, whether jumping horizontally or lying down in various ways.

As for the popular multiplayer mode, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 goes on sale with 16 new maps that can be enjoyed in the classic game modes of the franchise.
