17 Ago A Romance Anime Won One of the Strangest Guinness World Records Ever
The work in question is The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You. And the very long title gives us a hint about the achievement it earned. This romance anime earned a Guinness World Record for having the longest monologue in the history of Japanese animation.

This happened in the final episode of the second season, where Rentaro, the protagonist, delivers a love speech to his girlfriends. But since there are so many, the declaration is extremely long. That’s why, in the scene, the words are sped up so it all fits into one minute. However, according to the show’s social media, at an upcoming event they will play the full scene with the speech’s actual length.

Nevertheless, despite the increased speed, voice actor Wataru Kato had to record over 7,000 Japanese characters, which translate to more than 2,000 words in English. Due to this great feat, the actor earned this unusual Guinness World Record, which will be very difficult to beat.

Hyakkano, also known simply as The 100 Girlfriends, is a romance and comedy manga written by Rikito Nakamura and illustrated by Yukiko Nozawa, published since 2019. The work received an anime adaptation in 2023, consisting of 24 episodes across two seasons.

The synopsis tells us the following: “Rentaro Aijo was rejected 100 times by the time he finished high school. Desperate, he visits a shrine to pray for better luck in his new phase in high school and to find a girlfriend.

That’s when the God of Love appears before him and gives him good news: he will meet his soulmate in high school—not just one, but 100! But there’s a catch: if he meets his soulmate, they must end up together and love each other mutually, or else the girl will die!”
