A child in the new GTA 6 trailer?

At least, that’s what some fans who have been poring over the studio’s trailer and screenshots think.

Rockstar recently released a new batch of footage for GTA 6. Players began poring over some shots pixel by pixel. One of the screenshots sparked a particular reaction—according to players, a child can be seen in it. This was already speculated in December 2023, when the first trailer, set against the backdrop of a scene with a girl in the mud, showed small shapes, but now the details are clearer.

Is it really a child or just a short character? Some are certain it’s a child, while others believe it’s a short NPC. But if fans have solved the mystery, this will be the first time in GTA history that a minor character appears in the series’ game world. In Red Dead Redemption 2, unlike GTA, there were children—albeit in a very limited way.

It’s still unknown what role these characters might play. If Rockstar does introduce children, it’s likely they’ll only appear in cutscenes or their interactivity will be limited. Traditionally, GTA has a high age rating, so children are avoided due to legal and ethical implications. If they’re interactive, they can’t be harmed. But we know that 100% of the time, after the PC version’s release, there will be modders who will circumvent the restrictions.

Rockstar has yet to comment on fan speculation that GTA 6 will be released in 2026, as its release was postponed. A second trailer was released shortly afterward, which says 50% is gameplay. In just one day, it garnered 475 million daily views. In addition to the children, fans were also treated to a new PlayStation.
