Lady Gaga returns to her ‘Bad Romance’ era with ‘Abracadabra’

Lady Gaga goes back to her roots with the third single from MAYHEM, available on March 7. During a commercial break at the 67th edition of the Grammys, Gaga revealed “Abracadabra,” complete with an iconic music video, just as she promised.

“Abracadabra,” our Song of the Day, feels like a return to 2009 but with a production perfected for today’s times. “The category is dance or die,” the artist declares at the beginning of the music video.

It’s no coincidence that the chorus closely resembles the “Gaga, ooh, la, la” from Bad Romance. In this case, the mantra is “Abra, ooh, na, na” and “Morta, ooh, ga, ga.”

Produced by Cirkut, watt, and Budgie, “Abracadabra” is a total dancefloor banger of old-school dark electro-pop. It also comes with a spectacular gothic-style music video filled with one choreography after another. You couldn’t ask for more.

“Abracadabra” follows the singles “Disease” and “Die With A Smile” featuring Bruno Mars, who just won a Grammy for Best Pop Song by a Duo or Group. In her speech, Gaga took the opportunity to advocate for the queer community: “Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love.”
