The long-awaited release of GTA VI is here

At this point, there is no doubt that GTA VI is the most anticipated video game of the year. Rockstar Games’ new work is fighting a tough battle with Nintendo Switch 2 to be the main protagonist of 2025, although it is evident that each one in its area has no rival in terms of expectation.

Rockstar is in no hurry to release information. When others do not stop bombarding us with trailers, data or various features, the studio has remained silent since the first video appeared and only small details have been known through some conversations and the usual leaks, which always have to be read with great caution.

Below is everything that is known about GTA 6, both the official data and some of the speculations that have appeared over time and that could be true.

The release date of GTA VI is officially confirmed. It is one of those details that we know thanks to official information from Rockstar. It will be this year, supposedly. Rockstar talked about 2025 in the first trailer. And confirmed shortly after that it will arrive in the fall of 2025.

However, the shadow of the delay looms from day one. Take-Two, the parent company, has denied rumors about it on occasion, although it seems that it always does so quietly. The magnitude of the project is such that no one would be surprised if it finally went to 2026. In any case, we maintain September or October 2025 as a more than probable date and if it ends up arriving later, we will know that it is because they were not satisfied with what they had.

GTA VI will be a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S game. They are the only officially announced platforms, although we all assume that it will arrive on PC sooner or later.

The strong point to know is the performance of the game. A former developer of the series said in an interview that current consoles will be locked to 30 FPS and even that in the more than possible PC version it will be difficult to reach 60 FPS due to the complexity of the map. The interview was withdrawn at the request of the developer himself and due to the long tentacles, supposedly, of Rockstar’s lawyers.

Knowing that Xbox, PlayStation and PC will have their share of GTA VI, the main question that opens up for us is whether it will also come to Switch 2. Nintendo players would welcome it with open arms and it would be a huge asset for the new console. Rockstar did not specify anything, but when it made the announcement, there was no official successor to Switch.
