FIFA announced its first football game after the split with EA SPORTS

After 30 years, FIFA decided to end its relationship with EA SPORTS to face new objectives. The first step was to close a contract with Konami so that its 2024 World Cups will be held with eFootball and now, surprisingly, it announced that it will launch its first official football video game, far from what was expected.

The title in question is called FIFA Rivals and will come from the developer Mythical Games. It is an arcade video game, free to play and linked to blockchain technology for player transactions or cosmetic items. It will be a web3 experience in which users will have NFT assets to trade.

“Players will have the opportunity to create and manage their own football club. In addition, they will be able to form their starting eleven and improve the level of their squad, all with the aim of competing against other fans in real time in arcade-type PVP matches,” FIFA said in a statement.

He added: “The game will be free-to-play and will feature both in-app purchases and virtual stores that will leverage Mythos’ blockchain technology to allow users to buy, sell, trade and own their favourite football players.” The game is due to be released in 2025.
