Elton John has revealed that he lost his sight in his right eye following a severe infection in July while in the south of France.

In an emotional interview with Good Morning America, the 77-year-old music icon shared that the infection has affected his ability to work, particularly when it comes to studio recording. “I can’t see a lyric for a start,” he explained, adding that his left eye is also in poor condition.

John first spoke publicly about his sight issues in September, describing the infection as leaving him with limited vision in one eye. Despite the slow healing process, he remains hopeful and positive about his recovery, thanking his medical team and family for their support.

Although John retired from touring in 2023, he has continued to work on creative projects, including writing the music for The Devil Wears Prada musical, based on the 2003 novel.
